Musculoskeletal Anatomy Of The Thumb

Digital (Procreate and Adobe Illustrator)

While conducting my own dissection of a human hand, I focused on the anatomy of the muscles and bones of the thumb. From the dissection, I produced numerous sketches of which you can find a selection here. They capture the shapes I could see, as I was trying to understand the mechanics that move a human thumb. I later made an infographic out of these sketches. It illustrates all the muscles playing a role in the movements of the thumb, along with what makes it different from other fingers. The final illustration was made digitally, while aiming to replicate the true look of the muscles
