Symbiosis In Heathlands

Digital (Procreate, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop)

For this infographic, I was tasked to recontextualise bryophyte-fungi symbioses in an ecological scale. While using the codes of ecological poster, I compare the symbiosis happening in the leafy liverwort Cephalozia bicuspidata with the mycorrhizae happening in the heather, a flowering plant. It was found that the same species of fungus is able to form symbioses with both of these unrelated plant species. Hopefully with this illustration, I can introduce the concept of bryophyte-fungi symbiosis by using flowering plants, a group that my audience should be more familiar with.
